The abrasive layer is based on an aluminium base in the centre. The thickness of the working abrasive layer is 1 mm on each side, which ensures its durability.
All Venev diamond stones are factory marked in micron grit (according to GOST 9206). For example, “50/40” means that the stone contains only diamonds in the range between 50 to 40 microns, neither bigger, nor finer. If the marking reads “100/80-50/40”, it means that one side is 100/80, and the other is 50/40. The coarser the grain, the coarser the stone’s work.
For the convenience of our customers, our website also indicate the approximate correlation between the microns with the Fepa F standard grit. You can find it in the interactive table “here”.

What’s the convenience?
Buying one stone you have two different grit in one. The attachment point for the sharpening stone is made of metal. This ensures reliability even when working long and hard.
What fluid to use?
These stones work well with many liquids:
- You can use a soapy water solution with Fairy. But, this kind of liquid evaporates faster than oil-based liquids. Which requires more frequent use.
2. Pure olive oil. Works well, evaporates more slowly.
3. Special oils for sharpening. Including oleic acid based oils.
What does it mean – Abrasive concentration: 100%?
The factory makes stones with 25%, 50% and 100% grain fill in the bond. This directly affects the cost of the stone. If speed and wear resistance are important to us in the initial stages (in such cases we recommend 100% concentration), then 25% may well be considered at the finish in order to save money.
