The Venev Smooth Steel Lapping Plate is an ideal solution for achieving perfectly flat surfaces on both synthetic and natural stones using silicon carbide powders and diamond compounds. This plate features two finely polished lapping faces and measures 200mm in diameter. Material: Steel 20H Hardness: 45 HRC Dimensions: Diameter: 7.8 inches (200mm) Thickness: 0.8 inches (20mm) Weight: 11 lbs (5 kg) Usage Instructions: Apply clean or soapy water onto the plate to create a slurry with silicon carbide powder. Silicon carbide powder can be selected based on Grit/2. For example, a stone with a grit of FEPA F600 can be leveled with FEPA F300 powder. To control, you can apply a “grid” pattern to the surface of the stone being leveled using a marker. During the work, the pattern will disappear and as soon as it disappears from the entire surface of the stone, it is leveled. The same method can be used to open up new grain in the stone and clean it if the stone has become “greasy”. After finishing the lapping process, thoroughly clean and dry the plate. For extended storage, protect the surface by applying a thin layer of mineral oil.
